ABOUT US

Artsakh Wounded Soldier is an NGO that is dedicated to providing Armenians around

the world the opportunity to donate aid directly to their homeland, by instilling a

matching system in the process. Donors are directly matched with recipients and

are able to develop relationships with those they help.

Emily Ekshian & Sofia Ekshian

Founders, Artsakh Wounded Soldier

Emily and Sofia Ekshian are passionate for helping their homeland. In an effort to combat the devastating impacts of the 2020 Artsakh War inflicted by Azerbaijan, Emily and Sofia founded Artsakh Wounded Soldier.

Emily Ekshian is an avid human rights activist. She studied Economics and Media Studies at UCBerkeley and minored in Human Rights. Soon after, she pursued an MS in Journalism from Columbia University, Graduate School of Journalism. Emily enjoys writing stories that focus on the voices that are misrepresented in the mainstream media.

Sofia Ekshian is a psychology enthusiast. She studied Child Development at Pacific Oaks College. After, she completed an MA in Human Development at Pacific Oaks College. She is interested in the psychological impacts of atrocity, and aims to help her homeland in any way that she can.

Through our matching system, Artsakh Wounded Soldier was able to help mediate over $60,000 in donations to 900 soldiers and families who had been impacted from the 44 Day Artsakh War in 2020, and those who continue to be impacted by the hostilities.
